Hello everyone! I’m Krystal, the founder of Table. Reflecting on recent events, I’ve decided to embrace whatever lies ahead with a positive mindset and innovative spirit.
The Last Event and Immediate Plans – Business Pivoting
My last event booking for the immediate future was cancelled on the 16th of March. Unsure of my next steps, I began deep cleaning my house and tackling long-neglected projects. One afternoon, I took out my sewing machine and spent hours mending clothes, feeling like I had a new wardrobe by the end of it!
Business Update and Government Relief
Unfortunately, the self-employment and other business relief from the government isn’t applicable to me, and it seems that Universal Credit (even short-term) isn’t an option either. As a newer business owner, I find myself overlooked by these measures.
Business Pivoting to a Delivery Service in Northern Ireland
Given the current situation, pivoting my business direction seems the most viable option. I’m working on the idea of a delivery service for the self-isolating, the elderly, those with special dietary needs, or anyone looking for a break from cooking. More info on this will be coming soon! Feel free to get in touch if you have an immediate need. And keep an eye out for our new Shop page!
Sharing More Recipes and Videos
I also plan to post more recipes, including kids’ recipes, on my website. I love seeing so many people experimenting with baking and cooking recently, and I encourage inviting your kids into the kitchen to help. I have fond memories of helping my Grandmother in the kitchen, and I want to pass on that tradition. #learningnewthings #passingontraditions #familymemories #lifeskills
Finding Positivity Amidst Chaos of Business Pivoting
As coronavirus dominates the headlines, it’s important to look for positives. I believe this could be a moment for extreme beauty to emerge. I’m thankful this pandemic happened in the springtime instead of the dead of winter. Amidst the chaos and uncertainty, signs of new life and growth are encouraging. I’ve enjoyed watching birds making their nests during my morning cuppa. #simplethings #newlife #newgrowth #extremebeauty
Community Spirit During the Pandemic
I love reading stories from around the world about the coronavirus pandemic bringing out the best in people. From impromptu community soup kitchens and factories switching to produce ventilators, to communities getting to know one another better, offering to bring food shopping to strangers, using music to bring joy, and witnessing the dedication of all vital key workers. We can do so much more in community than we can on our own. #inthistogether #growingcommunity #keyworkersareheroes #strongertogether
Reflecting and Finding Faith
While taking time to slow down and reflect, I’ve been thinking about relaxing into this time. Fear won’t change anything, but faith can change us from the inside out. Tough times are ahead for us all, but this too will pass. My hope is that after this, we are even more thankful for the simple joy of sitting around a table with friends and family. #goodfoodbringspeopletogether #inclusivefood
Small Business Support
Supporting local businesses has never been more important. Let’s keep our community strong by shopping local and supporting small businesses. #shoplocal #smallbusiness #lovelocal #supportsmallbusiness #keepbusinessrunning #table #tablefood #belfast
